You can support more image file formats or archive file formats by developing plugins using this plugin SDK,
It consists of header file and sample.
But It lacks document.

This is a nice addition, are you planning on adding sdk for making other things pluginable, filters etc?

This is a bit off topic but an idea would also perhaps be to have the possibility to have the filters enabled all the time when viewing pictures just like the antialias filter switch?

It is already possible.
There is 'RegisterFilterType' method in IMAGINEPLUGININTERFACEVTBL.
